Matrix Revolutions

Note, this is a general ramble more than a review, but what do you expect at 4am. There are no real spoilers below.

It’s really tough to rate the last movie in a trilogy, simply because there is always the sadness of the fact that the story is coming to an end, and the long awaited conclusion to The Matrix was no exception. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great movie, and, like it’s predecessors will bear many a re-watching, but I felt it lacked something of what the others had. Maybe because less of the movie was in the Matrix itself, I’m not sure.

The fight scenes were, of course, excellent, and the story, though reasonably predictable had enough to keep me guessing how” if not “”what”” was going to happen. Some of the dialogue was a easy to pick too, but maybe I’m just good at finishing other peoples sentences. Oh, and when you see the squidies pour in, my brain immediately screamed Galaga, which was kinda funny.

All in all, a great movie, bringing a tear to the eye, a laugh and some very enjoyable action.

Up the Stairs

Bec has discovered the set of three stairs going up to the rumpus room in the middle of the house. She crawled up to them last week and was happy to kneel at the first step and look rather proud of herself.

Yesterday, she got to the steps again and stood herself up at them and tried to push herself up onto the next step. I said to Bern that I thought she would be probably be able to get up those stairs in about three weeks.

Fast forward to the next day….. Bec makes it up the stairs. It was a long process and we had our hearts in our mouths the wohle time, standing behind her trying not to distract her but still be ready to catch her if she fell.

I think I’m going to have to adjust my predictions in the future.

Crawling

Bec quickly caught on with the whole crawling thing, and is now able to cover extrordinary distances at quite a pace. If you chase after her, she giggles and redoubles her effort, which is very cute.

With the commando crawling though, she has a habbit of leaning left a little, which means she gets a few bumps on her head as she curves into walls and doorways.

Almost Crawling

Since she has been rolling, Bec has also been getting up on her knees a bit and looking like she was going to crawl, (In fact she has been able to push herself backward quite a bit) and tonight she actually made some progress forward, enough to reach a toy that we put down out of her reach. It was a fantastic moment!

Happy 40th Birthday, Edwin Brown

My brother in Law, Des, has a website about some TV show called Fat Cow Motel. It’s all very strange to me, but he’s 40 today, and this is the one day of the year when he is 10 years older than me, so I thought I’d say Happy Birthday!!

Moving

We made the move on Thursday & Friday 21 & 22 August, and it was a heap of hard work, but we got it mostly done by the 3pm deadline. Huge thanks to Nettie for cleaning the old house behind us, and Des, Daniel, Jen and Graham for moving all our junk, and a mega huge thank you to Chris for loading, logistics, driving the truck and even backing it up the huge steep driveway.

Bec on the move

Well, it has finally happened, and just a couple of days before we move: Bec has started rolling around, making lots of progress as she covers the floor exloring new areas. The first time Bern noticed was when she put Bec down to play under the play Gym and came back a minute or two later to find her over by the heater chewing on a network cable…

It is great to see the progress, but I kinda wish she had waited until we had moved!

Settled Settlement Date

Well, we finally have confirmation from the bank that our finance has been approved, but the settlement (and moving) date have been officially pushed back to the 22nd August (11 days away). We’ve still got lots of packing to do, with the current total of 33 boxes exactly a third of the way to Jen’s estimate of 100 boxes. Chris also thinks we might not fit everything into a 3 tonne truck, which might be interesting. We might need to drop off some of the pre boxed stuff at Jens, cos she is the closest.
