Observation & Logic

Driving home from the hospital tonight, Bec spotted the trye on the roof of the Beaurepaires shop in Ringwood, and I explained they sold tyres.

Then she saw the camera on the roof of Kirk’s Cameras. I said that’s because they sell cameras.

Up the road, she saw the clock tower. “”That shop has a clock on the roof, they must sell clocks””

I can’t fault the logic.

Acronym Finder

Someone on SAGE-AU posted a link to the Acronym Finder the other day, and I’ve found it to be spot on, and very handy.

strange coincidence # 1029

On my way home from the Melbourne PHP User Group Meeting I was stopped at a set of light in Lilydale, and I happened to glance up at the petrol station in front of me.

Unleaded was 102.9 cents.

Bringing by focus back to the interior of the car, I noticed the time was exactly 10:29pm

Caused a weird double take / deja-vu sort of thing…

Checking voicemail

Q: How do I retrieve my Vodaphone voicemail messages from another phone or overseas?

A: When your mobile phone has run out of battery, is out of coverage or you have just misplaced it. You can still access your voicemail messages from another tone dialling phone. To access your voicemail messages remotely, follow the steps below.

1. Simply dial 0414 121 121 (or from overseas* +61 414 121 121)
2. To transfer to your own voicemail service press * (star).
3. Enter your security code, then press # (hash).
4. Enter your Mobile Number, then press # (hash).
Your messages will then be played back to you.

Phone working again

My phone just started working again! I’m not sure if plugging it in and out of the handsfree kit a few times jiggled something or what, but I’m happy now coz it’s working… Of course, it might have been a great excuse to trade up to a new Treo 650.

I should add that Palm support did reply, but only to tell me to do what I’d already done and then possibly send it in to be looked at..

I took the opportunity to pull it apart myself, but that didn’t help, though it did clean a fair bit of dust out!

Longest Phone Call

I think I made my longest ever phone call yesterday, 245 minutes, or 4 Hours and 5 minutes!!!!

I was trying to get the setup of the Careforce Web Shop right and doing a heap of testing to get rid of a curruption we had in the database.

I was a bit stiff and sore by the end of it, but we fixed the problem..

Phone Problems

I’ve just sent this off to Palm-one support, we’ll see what happens. Also, if you ring me and get silence, you know I’ve forgotten to plug the handsfree in again. try again or SMS or email me….

When I receive a phone call, the phone prompts me to “Press Headset button” even though the headset is no longer plugged in. If I answer without the headset, I can neither hear nor be heard.

It just started happening the other day, then went away when I turned wireless mode off and back on again but now it has resurfaced and I’ve tried turning wireless mode off/on, soft reset, hard reset and nothing will fix it. I even tried a hard reset then switched wireless mode on and called it before I restored everything so it is not a software fault.

Everything works as normal with the headset (Genuine Handspring) plugged in, but as soon as I unplug it, I can neither hear or be heard.

Is there a physical switch inside the headset socket that tells the phone the headset is plugged in or is detected electrically?
