Soldier of Fortune is another great first person shooter with a feeling of realness to it. The setting is real, the missions are real and the game manages to suck you in completely for hours at a time. The latest release, Soldier of Fortune II is due out in early 2002 so that should be interesting.

Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament was voted “”Game of the Year”” in 1999 and still manages to hold my attention. This game is fast paced, but if feels much more real than the arcade style Quake III
New Blog Format – Drumknott“””
Tonight I’ve moved Everything over to Drumknott, The new Blog thingie Jase has written. Everything from before this is copied over, the rest in new. There is a bit of a gap, because I’ve lost interest in blogging (drumming) while I’ve been gearing up for the change.
Tactical Ops
Tactical Ops is a modifcation to Unreal Tournament is the best First Person Shooter I’ve played in quite a while. I really enjoy Unreal Tournament, but this game adds more realism with “”real”” weapons and “”real”” scenarios that pit the S.W.A.T. team against a group of Terrorists holding hostages. I love a bit of strategy and being able to find a nice spot to sit and “”camp”” and pick off the SWAT as they come around a corner or the Terrorists as they hide in thier tower.
I borrowed one of the projectors from work for the weekend and we watched Miss Congeniality with Sandra Bullock on friday on DVD on the big screen, On Saturday we bought and watched Charlies Angels and a few taped TV shows and Sunday night we decided to see The Matrix (again, but you can’t see it too often)
The Wall Part 4
Last weekend saw a bit of work out in the garden on Saturday, with the tree in the garden finally comming down. There is still lots of work to be done cleaning up branches, and many of the sleepers still need to be cut up to firewood size. I’m off work next week so we should get some real progress then, although Bern having her knee reconstruction on Wednesday and our evaporative air conditioning is going to be installed on Thursday.
Bernie’s Knee
Bern’s knee seems to be getting better, she can now drive agin. She had an MRI on Friday, and should have more information when she sees the doctor on Monday.
The Hurricane
I also just sat down and watched the Movie the Hurricane” starrring Denzel Washington. This is a fantastic film, one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is a deep (and true) story and it is told well. The acting is excellent and some of the camera work is spectacular. I watched it on DVD so also got the chance to watch it a second (& third) time with the Directors overview soundtrack which was quite revealing. Five stars.
The Wall Part 3
The main part of the retaining wall is done. Many thanks to Bern, Jase & Mon, Terry and Daniel for all thier support. There is still a heap of work to do, finishng off the corners and breaking up the old concrete steps and replacing them with a nice sloped path. There is also the cleanup of all the old sleepers (next year’s firewood) and cutting down the tree in the soon-to-be vegie patch.
Windows XP – bye bye
Things at work are progressing slowly, and I’m having trouble adjusting to the new format of the magazine. I also got sick of Windows XP and went back to ME. All of a sudden my hard disk is not thrashing all the time.posted
