Phone Problems

I’ve just sent this off to Palm-one support, we’ll see what happens. Also, if you ring me and get silence, you know I’ve forgotten to plug the handsfree in again. try again or SMS or email me….

When I receive a phone call, the phone prompts me to “Press Headset button” even though the headset is no longer plugged in. If I answer without the headset, I can neither hear nor be heard.

It just started happening the other day, then went away when I turned wireless mode off and back on again but now it has resurfaced and I’ve tried turning wireless mode off/on, soft reset, hard reset and nothing will fix it. I even tried a hard reset then switched wireless mode on and called it before I restored everything so it is not a software fault.

Everything works as normal with the headset (Genuine Handspring) plugged in, but as soon as I unplug it, I can neither hear or be heard.

Is there a physical switch inside the headset socket that tells the phone the headset is plugged in or is detected electrically?

Baby Guessing again

For those that don’t know, Bern and I are expecting again, so I’ve dusted off the Baby Guessing competition again. This allows you to guess what sex the baby will be and what date/weight the baby will be born, and it also creates a list of email addresses that I can use when the baby is born to notify everyone.

Note: Only one guess is allowed per person. I will only accept the first guess from each person. Entries close whenever we leave to go to hospital*.
There is no entry fee, but there may well be a prize.

David Meece

We went to a David Meece concert tonight, and I popped in to the church early to see if I could help out. It turned out they didn’t need me so I just did a few things around the place until Christa popped her head into the media room and asked if I could do a food run, because David likes Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, and someone had eaten them all..

You cant find Ham and Cheese Sandwiches in Mt Evelyn at 6pm, even the Cafe couldn’t help me because they were about to start serving main meals. So I did the next best thing, I went down to IGA, bought White Bread, Margarine, Ham and Cheese and made the Sandwiches myself..

That’s my 30 seconds of fame, I made Ham and Cheese Sandwiches for David Meece.

I did a bit of crowd control too and got in rather late, to what looked like rather poor seats, but it turned out we could see well on the big screen and could also clearly see the handwork as he played the piano. The sound was great too.

It was a fantastic night with a wonderful message, lots of interaction and some great music.

Jase’s Birthday

It was Jase’s 32nd birthday the other day, so we are celebrating tonight and I’ve made the cake, based on Terry Pratchett’s Discworld..

It looks like it was made by a 5 year old, but to be fair, Bec did help (as did Bern). See all the pics here

Mocktails

Bern got this great recipe for a mocktail from her friend Tammy:
60ml Pineapple Juice
60ml Orange Juice
30ml Coconut Cream
15ml Sugar Syrup

Sugar syrup is make with boiling water, and then loading it up with as much Sugar as will dissolve and then letting it cool.

Clever Daddy

Bern & Bec were playing with a ribbon when Bec started pulling a loose thread and the ribbon started to fray and unravel.

Bern: Oh it’s broken now, we’ll have to throw it in the bin”
Bec: “”No, daddy can fix it!””
Bern: “”No I don’t even think daddy can fix this””
Bec: “”Yes! Daddy’s a clever daddy””

Daddy put radio on the wall.

After helping my sister move last weekend, I decided enough was enough. If I can put the surround speakers on her system up the day they move in, the least I can do is put my own up, seeing as we’ve been in our house for 18 months!

So I dillegently extended the cables (3m cables on rear speakers, who’s idea of a joke is that???) and mounted them up on the wall.

The next day Beccy says to Bern: Daddy put radio on the wall” and points to the speakers.
