Daddy put radio on the wall.

After helping my sister move last weekend, I decided enough was enough. If I can put the surround speakers on her system up the day they move in, the least I can do is put my own up, seeing as we’ve been in our house for 18 months!

So I dillegently extended the cables (3m cables on rear speakers, who’s idea of a joke is that???) and mounted them up on the wall.

The next day Beccy says to Bern: Daddy put radio on the wall” and points to the speakers.

Some days are diamonds, some days are stones…

My little princess, my darling Beccy, did not have a good day today..

When I got her up, she had taken her nappy off and made a little mess on the bed. Never mind, we cleaned it up, threw her in the shower and the sheets in the wash..

During her afternoon sleep, she took her training undies off and wet the bed. Better than last time, but the sheet and mattress protector are headed for the wash..

Then later in the afternoon, I’m working away soldering downstairs when I hear a click-click-click noise. I dashed up the stairs to find Beccy, who was supposed to be on the toilet has escaped into the kitchen and has turned the stove on and is trying to cook dinner.

Well, it was sort of cooked, but all the meat was still in the Supermarket trays and a couple of oranges got poached in thier skins and blue shopping bag…

The smell was horrible, and we had to just chuck the whole lot in the bin. Thankfully no-one was hurt, and the worst damage was the smell, a bit of soot in the kitchen and $30 worth of shipping stright in the bin.

If this is the worst day of parenting we ever have, we’ll be blessed!

Catch them unawares….

I went in to Bec this morning when she woke up (I knew she’d been chatting and playing quietly for a while), and she was sitting up on the bed clasping three teddies in her lap.

She looked up at me proudly and said Look daddy, I catched them unawares.” “”Just like nana-jamas“”

I’m so proud..

A Conversation with Bec

Bern had the following coversation with Bec:

Bec: Where’s Daddy?
Bern: Daddy’s at …….?
Bec: Home. (Giggle) No Daddy’s at work.
Bern: That’s right Daddy’s at work.
Bec: Doing stuff!
Bern: Doing stuff?
Bec: Yep, doing stuff.

It’s nice to know Bec thinks I do something…

Bec in the Big Bed.

Bec is getting to the stage where we are looking to move her into a full size bed, so we decided to take the plunge and move the spare bed in there just so she could be used to having it around. Of course, she immediately wanted to sleep in it, but during yesterday afternoon’s sleep, that only lasted about 3 minutes, after which time we heard feet on the carpet and moved her (as agreed) to the cot.

For the night sleep she wanted to try again, so we dutifully tucked her in and left her to sleep. which she did, until about 4am when she woke us up, crying. I went in and found her lying on the floor in front of the change table (right beside the bed) crying in her sleep. I think she was probably just cold due to a wet nappy and no blankets. I took her to the potty and then put her back in bed where she stayed until after 8am.

It is kind of scary to see her in that huge bed, and Bern was really teary that our little girl was growing up so fast, but I don’t think she’ll be moving out on her own just yet…..

Aeroplanes

You know the stereotype where you put food on a kid’s spoon or fork and then zoom it around their face before the aeroplane lands in their mouth? Someone has taught Bec (I think it might be her cousin Jessica) and she occasionally asks for it if she wants us to feed her.

Last night she took it to a new level. Sitting there eating her own dinner, I noticed her pick up a piece of carrot, then she said aeroplane, zoomed it around a bit and stuck it in her own mouth.. I nearly fell of the chair laughing.

Beccy’s ‘shoes

Bern & Bec were respectively working and playing away in a bedroom the other day. Bern heard Bec say shoes” and Bern thought she must have found some shoes in the corner by the bed. Then Bern noticed she was just saying it over and over again, and when she finally looked up, there was Bec, proud as punch surrounded by dozens of ti-shoes….. and a half empy tissue box 🙂

Words

Bec started talking a couple of months ago. She started with the usual Mum and eventually Dad and then the next word she said was Dog. In fact she would just be sitting the playing away, and she would say dog”, seemingly out of the blue, but I found that if I stopped and played back in my mind what had just happened, I could hear a dog barking in the distance, which she had obviously heard and responded to.

Since then she has been adding new words every day or two. Next up was doll, ball, book, car and a few others from things in and around the house or in the books we read her.

One particular car trip she pointed at basically every car we saw and said “”car, brhoohm-brhoom””.

After a trip to Ringwood lake with Louise & Ryan she came back with a gorgeous “”quack”” from watching and listing to the ducks around the lake (with some help from Mum).

Recently she has started saying “”wheee”” when she finds something fun & fast and the other day I was heartbroken as she pointed out the window at her slide and said “”wheee slide”” but it was too wet to go out and play.

It is so beautiful to watch her develop. Bec, when you read this, I love you!
